Ungir o frotar con aceite, ya sea para el aseo personal, la preparación ceremonial o como señal del fin del duelo.
A diferencia del más solemne מָשַׁח (usado para consagrar reyes y sacerdotes), este verbo describe el acto cotidiano y personal de frotarse aceite en el cuerpo. Noemí le dice a Rut que se lave y se unja antes de presentarse ante Booz (Rt 3:3). David se levanta del duelo, se lava y se unge (2 S 12:20). A la mujer de Tecoa se le dice que actúe como quien guarda luto y no se ha ungido (2 S 14:2). Deuteronomio 28:40 advierte de una maldición tan severa que cultivarán olivos pero nunca se ungirán. Daniel se abstiene de ungirse durante su ayuno de tres semanas (Dn 10:3). En Ezequiel 16:9, Dios relata con ternura haber ungido a Jerusalén como acto de cuidado.
