V-Hifil-Perf-3ms  |  8× in 1 sense
To shine forth, radiate beams of light; used especially of God's theophanic glory breaking through in splendor.
This Hiphil verb captures the dramatic moment when light bursts forth — particularly the radiant splendor of God's appearing. In Deuteronomy 33:2, YHWH 'shone forth' from Mount Paran in the great theophanic blessing of Moses. Psalm 50:2 declares that from Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has 'shone forth.' The verb carries an almost physical force: light does not merely exist but actively breaks out and displays itself. In Job's speeches it describes both longed-for and terrifying luminosity (Job 3:4; 10:22; 37:15). Spanish captures the range beautifully with 'resplandece/resplandeció,' emphasizing radiant splendor.

Senses
1. shine forth / cause to shine To shine forth, send out beams, cause to radiate — exclusively in the Hiphil, describing the active bursting-forth of light. Primarily theophanic: God shines forth from Paran (Deut 33:2), from Zion (Ps 50:2), and is invoked to appear in radiance (Ps 80:2; 94:1). In Job it describes both desired light (3:4) and the terrifying brightness of storm-clouds (37:15). Spanish 'resplandeció' and French 'briller' both convey the active radiance this verb denotes.
