Prep-l  |  9× in 1 sense
A net or dragnet for catching fish or prey; distinct from the homonymous cherem meaning 'devoted ban.'
This is the second cherem — not the fearsome 'ban of destruction' but a simple fisherman's or hunter's net, derived from the idea of perforated work (cf. Arabic mukharram, 'perforated'). Habakkuk 1:15-17 paints the Chaldean empire as a fisherman who catches nations in his dragnet and then worships the net itself. Ezekiel uses the image in both directions: Tyre's ruins become a place for spreading nets (Ezek 26:5, 14), while God will cast His own net over Pharaoh (Ezek 32:3). Ecclesiastes 7:26 deploys it for the seductive woman whose heart is 'nets and snares.' Spanish 'red' and English 'net' render it straightforwardly.

Senses
1. net, dragnet A net or dragnet used for catching fish or trapping prey. Etymologically linked to the concept of perforated material (cf. Arabic mukharram), this noun appears in both literal and figurative contexts. The hunter's net ensnares in Micah 7:2 and Ecclesiastes 7:26, while the fisherman's dragnet dominates Ezekiel (26:5, 14; 32:3; 47:10) and Habakkuk (1:15-17), where the Chaldean empire is personified as a fisherman who sacrifices to his own net. Spanish 'red' and English 'net' render it consistently; the multilingual evidence confirms a single concrete artifact sense throughout.
