Derivado de una raíz que transmite lisura o lo resbaladizo, este sustantivo pinta un cuadro vívido de terreno traicionero y discurso engañoso. En el Salmo 35:6 y Jeremías 23:12 describe un camino de tinieblas y suelo resbaladizo que los impíos deben transitar. En Daniel 11:21 y 11:34, la misma palabra se traslada al ámbito político, denotando intrigas astutas o adulación mediante las cuales un gobernante usurpa el poder. 'Resbaladeros' capta el sentido físico, mientras que 'intrigas' refleja la extensión figurada hacia el engaño calculado.
