Eloah is the singular counterpart to the far more common Elohim, surfacing overwhelmingly in the poetry of Job (over 40 of its 61 occurrences) and in a handful of ancient poems such as the Song of Moses (Deut 32). Its rarity outside these contexts gives it a solemn, archaic flavor. When applied to false gods, as in Daniel 11 and 2 Chronicles 32, the cross-linguistic evidence shifts noticeably: Spanish and German translators leave it untranslated or bracket it, while English glosses switch from capitalized 'God' to lowercase 'a god,' signaling the semantic boundary between the true deity and generic divinity.
