Adj-NFS  |  5× in 1 sense
bright, luminous, full of light — shining with physical or spiritual radiance
Photeinos describes something filled with or radiating light, built on phos ('light'). In the New Testament it carries both a literal and a moral-spiritual dimension. The bright cloud at the Transfiguration (Matt 17:5) is photeinos in its most concrete physical sense, while Jesus' teaching about the eye as the lamp of the body (Matt 6:22; Luke 11:34, 36) uses the word to describe the inner condition of a person whose spiritual vision is clear and uncorrupted. The Spanish 'luminoso' and French 'lumineux' neatly parallel this dual register of radiant light and metaphorical clarity.

Senses
1. sense 1 Shining, radiant, or full of light — applied both to physical luminosity and to spiritual-moral illumination. Describes the bright cloud of divine glory at the Transfiguration (Matt 17:5) and the state of a person whose inner 'eye' is healthy and unclouded, allowing the whole body to be flooded with light (Matt 6:22; Luke 11:34, 36). All 5 occurrences connect outward radiance with inward wholeness, a link the multilingual glosses — Spanish 'luminoso,' French 'lumineux' — consistently preserve.
