Arrojar, lanzar o tirar con fuerza; echar al suelo, tirar a un lado o arrojar por la borda.
Un verbo enérgico de movimiento violento, ῥίπτω describe la acción de lanzar con fuerza o sin miramientos. Abarca diversas acciones físicas en el Nuevo Testamento: Judas arrojando las treinta monedas de plata en el templo (Mt 27:5), la gente echando a los enfermos a los pies de Jesús (Mt 15:30), un demonio tirando a un hombre al suelo (Lc 4:35) y la imagen de ser arrojado al mar con una piedra de molino (Lc 17:2). En Mateo 9:36, el participio perfecto pasivo se usa figuradamente para describir multitudes 'esparcidas' como ovejas sin pastor, evocando agotamiento y desamparo.
