A verb of violent physical disruption, rhegnumi appears in three memorable Gospel settings. New wine bursts old wineskins (Matt 9:17; Mark 2:22; Luke 5:37) — Spanish 'romperá' (will break) and 'se rompen' (they break) capture the pressure-driven rupture. Demons seize a boy and 'throw him down' in convulsions (Mark 9:18; Luke 9:42), where Spanish shifts to 'lo derriba' (throws him down). And swine, given holy things, will 'tear you to pieces' (Matt 7:6). In Gal 4:27, Paul quotes Isaiah's call to the barren woman to 'break forth' in joyful shouting — the only non-destructive use.
