Adj-NFS  |  1× in 1 sense
Spacious, broad, wide; having ample room or width
This adjective describes physical breadth or spaciousness—something wide, roomy, or expansive. Jesus uses it in the Sermon on the Mount to describe the road leading to destruction: 'the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction' (Matthew 7:13). The broad, spacious path requires no struggle to stay on—it accommodates every inclination, making it tragically popular while leading to ruin.

Senses
1. sense 1 Jesus' two-roads teaching (Matthew 7:13) contrasts the spacious way with the narrow path to life. The broad road's width symbolizes its ease and popularity—no self-denial required, no fighting against the current, plenty of company. The translations ('broad,' 'espacioso,' 'spacieux') preserve the spatial metaphor. This spaciousness that seems so attractive proves deadly, while the constricted path that requires struggle leads to life.
