† מֶרְחָב n.[m.] broad, roomy, place;—abs. מ׳, of pasture Ho 4:16 (in sim.); fig. of freedom from distress and anxiety 2 S 22:20 = ψ 18:20, ψ 31:9; 118:5 (MT cstr. in מֶרְחַבְיָה spacious place of Yah, i.e. extraordinarily spacious, מֶרְחָב יָהּ, יָהּ being subj. of vb.); pl. cstr. מֶרְחֲבֵי־אֶרֶץ Hb 1:6 expanses of the earth.

† עָגֹל, עָגוֹל adj. round;—abs. עָגֹל 1 K 7:23 + 2 times, עָגוֹל 10:19 2 Ch 4:2; fpl. עֲגֻלּוֹת 1 K 7:31;—round 1 K 7:31(×2) (opp. מְרֻבָּעוֹת), 10:19; ע׳ סָבִיב round in circuit (perimeter) 7:23 = 2 Ch 4:2; 1 K 7:35.

[פָּתָה] vb. be spacious, wide, open (Aramaic פְּתָא be spacious, ܦܬܳܐ be spacious, abundant; cf. Arabic فَتُوَ, فَتِىَ, be youthful, in prime of life, فَتًى young man, one in prime of life (development of various meanings from √ not wholly clear, cf. NöZMG xi (1886). 735));— Qal Pt. פֹּתֶה Pr 20:19 poss. one open as to lips, but v. פָּתָה²" dir="rtl" >פָּתָה denom. infr. Hiph. Impf. 3 ms. juss. יַפְתְּ א׳ לְיֶפֶת Gn 9:27 may God make wide for Japhet (give him an extensive inheritance).—Pf. poss. Pr 24:28 (reading וְהִפְתִּיתָ בִּשְׂפָתֶ֑יךָ; make wide with (open wide) thy lips, for MT וַהֲפִתִּיתָ בִּשׂ׳, so SS; but cf. פָּתָה denom. Pi.).

Pu. Pt. pl. מְרֻוָּחִים Je 22:14 spacious (of rooms; ‖ בֵּית מִדּוֹת).

† [פָּשַׂק] vb. part, open wide (NH פָּסַק, Aramaic פְּסַק, ܦܣܰܩ, all cut, sever, cleave);— Qal Pt. פֹּשֵׂק שְׂפָתָיו Pr 13:3 i.e. one talkative. Pi. Impf. 2 fs. וַתְּפַשְּׂקִי אֶת־רַגְלַיִךְ Ez 16:25 (c. ל pers.; sensu obsc.).
