V-PPA-ANP  |  1× in 1 sense
to be in, exist within; be present or contained inside something
This verb means to be in or exist within something. In Luke 11:41, Jesus instructs the Pharisees to give as alms 'such things as you have' (literally, 'the things that are within'). The term denotes contents or internal possessions. Classical usage shows it meant to be present in a place or contained within. Jesus contrasts external ritual cleanliness with internal generosity—what's inside the cup matters more than its outside. True purity involves generous disposition of internal resources.

Senses
1. sense 1 Luke 11:41 contains Jesus' corrective to Pharisaic externalism: 'Give as alms those things which are within.' The neuter plural participle τὰ ἐνόντα denotes contents or possessions at hand. The contrast is between outer washing (v. 39) and inner generosity. Cross-lingual evidence (within, de adentro, ce qui est dedans) confirms the interior reference. Jesus redirects focus from ritual surface to ethical substance: give from what you have inside, and all becomes clean.
