Socorrer, ayudar, asistir; asir a alguien para sostenerlo o apoyarlo
Este verbo en voz media significa agarrar algo o a alguien para prestarle ayuda. En el Magnificat, María celebra cómo Dios «socorrió» a Israel su siervo, acordándose de su misericordia (Lucas 1:54). Pablo cita la enseñanza de Jesús de que es más bienaventurado dar que recibir, y que se debe «ayudar» a los débiles (Hechos 20:35). En 1 Timoteo 6:2, los esclavos creyentes deben servir bien a los amos que «reciben» su buen servicio como hermanos en la fe. El sentido clásico de «asir» evoluciona hacia la idea de tomar a alguien de la mano para socorrerlo.
