Adj-AFS  |  8× in 1 sense
Pure, chaste, innocent; morally blameless and free from defilement or mixed motives.
An adjective describing what is morally uncontaminated — clean in motive, conduct, and character. Paul uses it to commend the Corinthians' zealous repentance, declaring them 'pure in this matter' (2 Cor 7:11), and desires to present the church as a 'pure virgin' to Christ (2 Cor 11:2). In Philippians 4:8 it appears among virtues worthy of sustained reflection. The Pastoral Epistles apply it to personal conduct: keeping oneself pure (1 Tim 5:22) and the call for young women to be chaste (Titus 2:5). Spanish 'pura/casta' and German 'rein' both capture the dual moral-ritual purity at the word's heart.

Senses
1. pure Pure, chaste, morally innocent — describing persons, conduct, or character that is free from defilement, corruption, or duplicity. In 2 Cor 7:11 the Corinthians proved themselves 'pure' through repentance; in 2 Cor 11:2 Paul envisions the church as a 'pure virgin' betrothed to Christ; Phil 4:8 lists it among qualities worthy of contemplation; 1 Tim 5:22 urges Timothy to keep himself pure; and Titus 2:5 calls for chastity in domestic life. The multilingual evidence (Spanish 'pura/casta,' French 'pur,' German 'rein') confirms a unified moral-purity sense without the ritual-cultic overtones found in classical Greek usage of the word.
