[נָאַר] vb. only Pi. exact meaning uncertain; prob. (from context) abhor, spurn (De comp. Arabic نار abhor, but this is med. و);— Pi. Pf. subj. י׳, נִאֵר La 2:7 (obj. מִקְדָּשׁוֹ; ‖ זָנַח); 2 ms. נֵאַרְתָּה ψ 89:40 (obj. בְּרִית עַבְדְּךָ; ‖ חִלֵּל, and זָנַח, מָאַם v 39; doubts cast on text by Hup (reading נאץ), Now, Bu La 2:7).
