Este verbo arameo significa humillar o abatir, y aparece exclusivamente en Daniel en contextos de humillacion real. Daniel 4:37 habla de Dios que «puede humillar a los que andan con soberbia». Daniel 5:19 describe como Nabucodonosor «derribaba a quien queria» cuando tenia poder. Daniel 5:22 reprende a Belsasar: «no has humillado tu corazon» a pesar de saber lo que le sucedio a Nabucodonosor. Daniel 7:24 profetiza sobre un rey que «derribara a tres reyes».
