Sediento; describe a una persona o tierra que carece de agua, a veces en sentido figurado de anhelo espiritual.
Adjetivo que describe el estado de necesitar agua, frecuentemente emparejado con ra'ev ('hambriento') para retratar la privación humana (2 Sam 17:29; Prov 25:21; Sal 107:5). Isaías extiende la palabra hacia una metáfora poderosa: los sedientos son invitados a venir a las aguas gratuitamente (Isa 55:1), y Dios promete derramar agua sobre la tierra sedienta y su Espíritu sobre la descendencia de Israel (Isa 44:3). El español 'sediento' conserva tanto el registro literal como el figurado. Deuteronomio 29:19 lo emplea de manera singular en la expresión proverbial 'arrasar lo regado junto con lo sediento'.
