Zobah (צוֹבָה) identifies a powerful Aramean city-state in the Beqaa Valley region between Hamath and Damascus. It features prominently in David's wars, where Hadadezer king of Zobah is defeated at the Euphrates (2 Sam 8:3-5, 12; 1 Chr 18:3-9). The Ammonites hired Zobah's Arameans against David (2 Sam 10:6, 8), and Saul also fought Zobah's kings (1 Sam 14:47). After David's conquests, Rezon fled Zobah to establish a rival kingdom in Damascus (1 Kgs 11:23-24). Solomon subdued Hamath-Zobah (2 Chr 8:3).
