Azmon; a location on the extreme southern border of Canaan
Azmon was a site on the southernmost border of the Promised Land, marking the boundary between Canaan and the wilderness. Numbers 34:4-5 describes the southern border passing through Azmon and proceeding to the Brook of Egypt. Joshua 15:4 includes it in Judah's southern boundary description, using identical language. The directional form Azmonah ('toward Azmon') appears in Numbers 34:4. The precise location is uncertain, somewhere in the northern Sinai or Negeb wilderness. As a border marker, Azmon represented the extent of Israel's territorial claim, the edge where promised land met desert.
