A theophoric Hebrew name (עַמִּיהוּד) combining 'am' (kinsman, people) and 'hud' (majesty, splendor), meaning 'my kinsman is glorious.' Most prominently, Ammihud was the father of Elishama, leader of the tribe of Ephraim during the wilderness wanderings (Num 1:10; 2:18; 7:48, 53; 10:22).
