Achsah was the daughter of Caleb who was given in marriage to Othniel son of Kenaz as a reward for capturing Kiriath-sepher (Josh 15:16-17; Judg 1:12-13). She is memorable for boldly requesting from her father not only the Negeb land he had given her but also upper and lower springs of water — a request he granted. Her story appears in nearly identical form in Joshua and Judges, and the Chronicler preserves her name in Caleb's genealogy (1 Chr 2:49). The Septuagint varies between Ascha, Achsa, and Oxa.
