En-hakkore is a place name meaning 'spring of the caller' or 'spring of the partridge,' commemorating God's provision of water for Samson. After Samson slaughtered a thousand Philistines with a donkey's jawbone, he became desperately thirsty and called out to God. God split open a hollow place, and water flowed out. Samson named the spring En-hakkore ('spring of the caller') because he called to God in his desperate need. The name captures both Samson's cry for help and God's gracious response.
