Salecah; a city on the eastern border of Bashan, modern Salkhad
Salecah (or Salkhad) was a city marking the eastern boundary of the territory of Bashan, later allotted to Gad or Manasseh. It appears in Deuteronomy 3:10 and Joshua 12:5, 13:11 as a border marker, and in 1 Chronicles 5:11 in connection with Gad's territory. The site is identified with modern Salkhad (or Sarkhad), located on the southern spur of Jebel Hauran, about 63 miles due east of the Jordan River. The Moabite Stone also mentions a similar name (Nabataean צלחד).
