Verbo que en Qal significa actuar necia o insensatamente, y en Piel adquiere la fuerza de tratar con desprecio y deshonra. Proverbios 30:32 emplea el Qal para advertir contra la necedad de la autoexaltación. El Piel intensifica el sentido hacia un desprecio activo: Deuteronomio 32:15 describe a Jesurún engordándose y menospreciando al Dios que lo formó.
