Medeba — a Moabite city on the tableland east of the Jordan
Medeba was an ancient city situated on the high plateau of Moab, east of the Dead Sea. It appears in the conquest narrative as territory taken from Sihon (Num 21:30) and was allotted to the tribe of Reuben (Josh 13:9, 16). In 1 Chronicles 19:7, the Ammonites gathered there before battle with David. Isaiah 15:2 includes it in the oracle against Moab. The Mesha Inscription also references the city, confirming its importance in Transjordanian geopolitics.
