Casi todas las apariciones se combinan con un verbo de decir (אֲמַר), formando la fórmula estándar aramea de introducción de discurso: «y así le dijo» (Dn 2:24). En Esdras 6:2, la variante «y así estaba escrito en él» extiende el uso a registros escritos. Cognado del hebreo bíblico כֵּן, el vocablo funciona de manera idéntica al español «así» en la estructura del discurso.
