Retirarse, esconderse; refugiarse u ocultarse ante el peligro o el juicio
Verbo que significa retirarse u ocultarse, estrechamente emparentado con el más frecuente חָבָא. En Josué 2:16, Rajab ordena a los espías israelitas esconderse en los montes durante tres días. Isaías 26:20 formula un tierno imperativo — 'Ven, pueblo mío, entra en tus aposentos' — evocando refugio divino durante el juicio venidero. Las formas nifal en 1 Reyes 22:25 y 2 Reyes 7:12 describen la acción de ocultarse en un cuarto interior, mientras que Jeremías 49:10 declara que Esaú no podrá esconderse del juicio escrutador de Dios.
