V-Hifil-Imperf-3mp  |  1× in 1 sense
To shine, give light (Hiphil); the wise 'shall shine' in everlasting glory (Daniel 12:3)
This Hiphil verb appears in Daniel's vision of the resurrection and final judgment: 'those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament.' The imagery of light represents eschatological glory, the vindication and exaltation of the righteous teachers who endured persecution. The verb derives from a root meaning 'shine' or 'be bright,' cognate with Arabic and Aramaic forms. Daniel uses astronomical imagery—firmament, stars—to convey the transcendent, everlasting nature of this glory.

Senses
1. sense 1 Spanish 'brillarán' (they will shine), English 'shall-shine'—both preserve the future glory aspect. French offers 'avertir' (to warn), apparently deriving from a different root (the homonym meaning 'warn'). Daniel 12:3 is a pivotal text for resurrection hope and eschatological reward. The shining of the wise contrasts with the darkness of judgment, their light everlasting like the stars, a beacon of divine vindication for those who suffered for righteousness.
