Gershonite — gentilic adjective for descendants of Gershon son of Levi, used collectively or individually
The gentilic adjective identifying members of the Levitical clan descended from Gershon (also Gershom), the eldest son of Levi. In Numbers 3-4 and 26, the Gershonites receive specific tabernacle duties — carrying the tent curtains, coverings, and hangings — and are assigned camping positions west of the tabernacle. Joshua 21:33 records their allotted cities. In Chronicles, individual Gershonites appear in worship and treasury roles (1 Chr 23:7; 26:21; 2 Chr 29:12). Translations uniformly treat this as a proper clan designation: Spanish gershonitas, French and German Gershonite/Gersoniter.
