Verbo cuyo sentido central es arrastrar o tirar, del cual se derivan varios usos especializados según sus formas verbales. En Qal describe el arrastre violento, como cuando los caldeos barren naciones con su red (Hab 1:15) o la violencia arrastra a los malvados (Pr 21:7). El Nifal designa la acción de rumiar, literalmente un movimiento repetitivo de tracción en la mandíbula (Lv 11:7). El Poel describe piedras cortadas con sierra (1 R 7:9) y el Hitpoel una tormenta que se arremolina y ruge (Jer 30:23). Los cognados árabe jarra y asirio gararu conservan la semántica básica de 'arrastrar/tirar'.
