Its 13 occurrences are confined to the Aramaic portions of Daniel and Ezra, where it serves as the emphatic subject pronoun in royal and visionary discourse. Nebuchadnezzar uses it repeatedly in his decrees and dream narratives ('I, Nebuchadnezzar,' Dan 4:1, 15, 34), and Daniel employs it in recounting his visions ('I, Daniel,' Dan 7:15, 28). The pronoun also appears in Artaxerxes' decree in Ezra 7:21. Spanish 'yo,' French 'je,' German 'ich' — every translation renders it as a simple first person pronoun, confirming its purely grammatical function.
