Elyaqim -- 'God raises up'; a proper name borne by Hezekiah's steward and as the original name of King Jehoiakim
Eliakim (Hebrew אֶלְיָקִים, 'God raises up') is a theophoric proper name borne by at least two prominent Old Testament figures: (1) the son of Hilkiah, who served as steward over King Hezekiah's palace and was the chief negotiator during the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem (2 Kgs 18:18, 26, 37; Isa 22:20; 36:3, 11, 22; 37:2); and (2) the original birth name of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, changed by Pharaoh Neco when he installed him as vassal king of Judah (2 Kgs 23:34; 2 Chr 36:4). Isaiah's oracle about Eliakim the steward (Isa 22:20-25) portrays him as a 'peg in a sure place,' entrusted with the key of the house of David -- language echoed in Revelation 3:7.
