En el Pu'al (pasivo) describe un proceso de teñido externo: pieles de carnero 'teñidas de rojo' para la cubierta del Tabernáculo, repetido siete veces en las narraciones de construcción del Éxodo (25:5; 26:14; 35:7, 23; 36:19; 39:34). En los troncos activo y estativo describe rojez inherente: la belleza rubicunda de los nazareos antes del asedio (Lm 4:7), el enrojecimiento del vino como advertencia contra la embriaguez (Pr 23:31) y la mancha escarlata del pecado que Dios puede hacer blanca como la nieve (Is 1:18).
