ψευδο-προφήτης G5578
False prophet — one who fraudulently claims divine revelation, deceiving God's people with counterfeit messages
The compound noun ψευδοπροφήτης (pseudoprophētēs) denotes someone who falsely claims to speak for God. Jesus warns they come as wolves in sheep's clothing (Matt 7:15) and predicts their end-times proliferation with deceiving signs (Matt 24:11, 24; Mark 13:22). The sorcerer Bar-Jesus is called a false prophet (Acts 13:6). John commands testing every spirit because 'many false prophets have gone out into the world' (1 John 4:1). Revelation personifies the ultimate false prophet as the beast's propagandist (Rev 16:13; 19:20). Spanish 'falso profeta' and French 'faux prophète' are exact calques.
