Chronotribeō means to spend time, to delay, or to linger, sometimes with the negative connotation of wasting time. Luke uses it in Acts when describing Paul's decision during his journey to Jerusalem: 'Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia, for he was hastening to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.' The verb captures Paul's sense of urgency and strategic time management: stopping in Ephesus would involve time-consuming visits and discussions that would delay his arrival in Jerusalem for the feast. Time is precious and must be used wisely for kingdom purposes.
