to supply, provide, furnish abundantly
χορηγέω originally referred to financing a chorus or public festival (from χορηγός, 'chorus leader/sponsor'), but came to mean more generally to supply or provide abundantly, to furnish what is needed. Paul uses it twice, both times of God's generous provision. In 2 Corinthians 9:10, he writes that 'He who supplies (ὁ... χορηγῶν) seed to the sower and bread for food will supply (χορηγήσει) and multiply your seed for sowing'—God generously provides resources so believers can be generous. In 1 Peter 4:11, Peter instructs that whoever serves should do so 'as one who serves by the strength that God supplies (χορηγεῖ)'—God furnishes the enabling power for ministry.

Sentidos
1. sense 1 Both uses describe God as the generous supplier. 2 Corinthians 9:10 speaks of material provision for giving; 1 Peter 4:11 speaks of spiritual strength for serving. The French fournir and Spanish suministra capture the supplying action. The root meaning of chorus-sponsoring conveys the idea well: God doesn't provide grudgingly but abundantly, like a wealthy benefactor funding a magnificent public festival. He supplies both the seed and the strength, both resource and power.
