Ejército, fuerza militar, cuerpo de tropas desplegado para campaña o aplicación de la ley.
Στράτευμα designa un cuerpo militar organizado, desde un ejército completo hasta un destacamento de soldados. En Mateo 22:7, un rey envía sus «ejércitos» para destruir a los homicidas e incendiar su ciudad, imagen parabólica del juicio divino. Lucas 23:11 registra a Herodes y sus soldados burlándose de Jesús. En Hechos, tropas romanas intervienen para rescatar a Pablo de la violencia de la turba (Hch 23:10, 27). Apocalipsis 9:16 visualiza una fuerza de caballería asombrosa de doscientos millones. El vocablo evoca consistentemente el poder militar sancionado por el Estado, ya sea desplegado en la narrativa histórica o en la visión apocalíptica.
