1. Material y socialmente indigente — Material y socialmente indigente: un mendigo o persona reducida a la pobreza extrema, dependiente de la caridad ajena. Jesús anuncia que el evangelio se predica a los pobres como señal mesiánica (Mat 11:5; Luc 4:18). Al joven rico se le ordena dar a los pobres (Mat 19:21), y los pobres están siempre presentes como objeto de compasión (Mat 26:11). El término griego πτωχός connota una necesidad absoluta más intensa que la que suele transmitir la traducción castellana. 34×
