Paul; the apostle to the Gentiles (also Sergius Paulus, the Roman proconsul)
Paulos is the Greco-Roman name of the apostle who dominates the second half of Acts and authored thirteen epistles. The name first appears at Acts 13:9, where Luke notes that Saul 'was also called Paul,' marking the transition from his Jewish identity to his mission among Gentiles. The only other bearer in the New Testament is Sergius Paulus, the proconsul of Cyprus (Acts 13:7).
