¿No? ¿Acaso no? — partícula negativa retórica que espera una respuesta afirmativa
Οὐχί es una forma intensificada del negativo griego οὐ, empleada casi exclusivamente en preguntas retóricas que esperan la conformidad del oyente: «¿No hacen lo mismo los publicanos?» (Mt 5:46). Sus 53 apariciones se concentran abrumadoramente en el discurso directo: Jesús interpelando a sus oyentes, Pablo presionando un argumento o un narrador planteando una pregunta incisiva. La fuerza retórica transforma la negación en afirmación: al preguntar «¿acaso no es así?», el hablante obliga al asentimiento. El español lo capta con «¿(acaso) no...?», mecanismo propio para señalar que una pregunta negativa espera respuesta positiva.
