Derivado de θησαυρός ('tesoro, almacén'), este verbo significa acumular o guardar para uso futuro. Jesús contrasta el atesorar tesoros en la tierra frente al cielo (Mt 6:19-20), estableciendo la tensión teológica central del término. Pablo advierte sobre 'atesorar ira' para el día del juicio (Ro 2:5), invirtiendo la connotación positiva en algo ominoso, mientras Santiago acusa a los ricos que han 'acumulado tesoros en los últimos días' (Stg 5:3).
