Amamantar, dar de mamar; dar el pecho o mamar del pecho materno
Verbo que abarca ambos lados de la relación de lactancia: la madre que da de mamar y el bebé que mama. En el Nuevo Testamento aparece en momentos profundamente humanos: Jesús citando el Salmo 8 sobre la alabanza de los lactantes (Matt 21:16), advertencias sobre la dificultad especial que enfrentarán las madres lactantes en tiempos de crisis (Matt 24:19; Mark 13:17; Luke 21:23), y la bendición de una mujer sobre los pechos que amamantaron a Jesús (Luke 11:27). El español distingue bien entre 'amamantar' (dar el pecho) y 'mamar' (tomar leche del pecho), reflejando la capacidad del verbo para expresar tanto la perspectiva de la madre como la del niño.
