The proper name of the woman who left her husband Philip to marry his brother Herod Antipas, provoking John the Baptist's public rebuke and ultimately orchestrating his beheading. All six NT occurrences cluster in two parallel accounts: Matthew 14:3-6 and Mark 6:17-22, with Luke 3:19 adding a summary reference. Mark's account is notably more detailed, naming her role in the plot and her daughter's dance. The French 'Herodiade' and Spanish 'Herodiada' preserve the Greek inflectional pattern across their respective case forms.
