Caliente, ardiente; que tiene alta temperatura, usado en contraste con frío y tibio para expresar fervor espiritual
Este adjetivo significa caliente o ardiente, y describe una temperatura elevada. Aparece exclusivamente en la carta a Laodicea del libro de Apocalipsis, en la célebre reprensión por no ser ni caliente ni frío, sino tibio. El contraste entre caliente (ζεστός), frío (ψυχρός) y tibio (χλιαρός) habla del fervor espiritual frente al compromiso mediocre. Tanto el agua caliente como la fría tienen utilidad; el agua tibia provoca repugnancia y es vomitada. Esta imagen poderosa exige una entrega total, sin medias tintas.
