Este verbo significa tener buen ánimo, cobrar valor o mantener un espíritu alegre. Aparece en contextos de aliento ante la adversidad. Pablo lo emplea dos veces a bordo de un barco azotado por la tempestad para infundir ánimo a los marineros atemorizados (Hechos 27:22, 25), y Santiago lo usa para describir a quienes deben cantar alabanzas cuando están contentos (Santiago 5:13). El término enfatiza la disposición interior: mantener el buen ánimo o expresar gozo.
