Último, final, postrero; referido al término de una secuencia temporal o al extremo del espacio
Derivado de una raíz que significa «fuera de» o «lo más externo», este adjetivo señala el punto terminal de cualquier secuencia, ya sea temporal o espacial. En el Nuevo Testamento su uso abrumadoramente temporal le confiere un profundo peso escatológico: «los últimos días» (Hch 2:17), «la última trompeta» (1 Co 15:52), «el último enemigo» (1 Co 15:26). La sentencia de Jesús «los últimos serán primeros» (Mt 19:30) subvierte las expectativas sociales mediante el sentido ordinal. El raro uso espacial —«hasta lo último de la tierra» (Hch 1:8)— evoca Isaías 49:6 y traza el alcance geográfico de la misión evangélica.

2. fin, extremo (espacial) — El punto más lejano o extremo más distante en el espacio. Solo dos apariciones (Hch 1:8 y 13:47), ambas citando a Isaías, emplean el sentido espacial: «hasta lo último de la tierra». «Fin» y «lo último» distinguen este uso del temporal «último».
