Escudriñar, examinar o investigar a fondo; indagación minuciosa de asuntos ocultos o profundos.
Transmite una búsqueda profunda y penetrante, no una mirada superficial sino una investigación exhaustiva de lo oculto o complejo. Jesús dice a los dirigentes judíos que escudriñen las Escrituras (Jn 5:39), y Pablo declara que el Espíritu 'todo lo escudriña, aun lo profundo de Dios' (1 Co 2:10). Ya se aplique al estudio humano de la Escritura, a la penetración del Espíritu en las profundidades divinas o a la indagación de los profetas sobre el tiempo de la salvación (1 P 1:11), el vocablo siempre implica un examen meticuloso y deliberado.

1. Escudriñar, investigar — Buscar con detenimiento, examinar a fondo o investigar con esmero, implicando una indagación profunda y no un repaso superficial. Se usa del Espíritu que escudriña las profundidades de Dios (1 Co 2:10), de Dios que escudriña los corazones humanos (Ro 8:27), de los creyentes que examinan las Escrituras (Jn 5:39) y de los profetas que investigaron cuidadosamente la salvación que anunciaron (1 P 1:11). 6×
