ἐπισκῐ-άζω G1982
Cubrir con sombra, hacer sombra sobre; usado de la presencia divina que envuelve o cubre con poder y protección.
Significa literalmente proyectar una sombra sobre algo, pero en el NT adquiere un peso teológico profundo. En la Transfiguración, la nube de la gloria de Dios cubre con su sombra a los discípulos (Matt 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:34). De manera aún más significativa, el ángel le dice a María que el poder del Altísimo la cubrirá con su sombra (Luke 1:35), evocando la gloria de la Shekiná que se cernía sobre el tabernáculo. Incluso la sombra sanadora de Pedro en Acts 5:15 recurre a esta misma imagen. El término conserva tanto el sentido literal de sombra como la connotación de cobertura divina.
