Διψάω capta tanto la sensacion fisica cruda de la sed como una profunda metafora espiritual. En el plano literal, Jesus se identifica con el sediento en la parabola de las ovejas y los cabritos: 'tuve sed y me disteis de beber' (Mt 25:35), y clama 'Tengo sed' desde la cruz (Jn 19:28). En el plano metaforico, las Bienaventuranzas prometen que quienes 'tienen hambre y sed de justicia' seran saciados (Mt 5:6), y Jesus declara que quien beba del agua que el da 'nunca mas tendra sed' (Jn 4:14; 6:35). Apocalipsis cierra con este doble registro: 'el que tenga sed, venga' (Ap 21:6; 22:17).
