δάκν-ω G1143
To bite, to attack with teeth
To seize with teeth and bite, used both literally of animals and metaphorically of hostile interpersonal behavior. Paul warns the Galatians in 5:15 that if they keep biting and devouring one another, they will destroy each other completely. The vivid animal imagery suggests vicious conflict, treating fellow believers as prey rather than family, tearing at one another with words or actions.
Sentidos
1. sense 1 — Refers to biting with teeth, extended metaphorically to hostile verbal or relational attacks. The translations (Spanish 'mordéis', German 'beissen') preserve both literal and figurative senses. In Galatians 5:15, Paul uses this animalistic metaphor to shock the Galatians into recognizing the destructive nature of their conflicts—instead of loving neighbors as themselves (5:14), they are behaving like wild beasts, consuming one another in mutual destruction that will leave the entire community devastated if they don't stop. 1×
