Genuino, verdadero, legítimo; auténtico en relación o carácter
Derivado de γένος (linaje, estirpe), γνήσιος significaba originalmente 'nacido legítimamente' y pasó a denotar todo lo auténtico o sincero. Pablo lo emplea para poner a prueba la autenticidad del amor de los corintios (2 Cor 8:8), se dirige a un colaborador de confianza como 'verdadero compañero de yugo' (Fil 4:3) y llama a Timoteo y a Tito sus 'verdaderos hijos' en la fe (1 Tim 1:2; Tit 1:4). La palabra transmite calidez junto con su reclamo de autenticidad, afirmando vínculos que son reales y no meramente formales.
